Healthcare Design Showcase 2017

This women’s and infant’s renovation project created an opportunity to physically connect two organizations with shared goals – The Froedtert Hospital Birth Center and the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Previously segregated departments were integrated, expanded, and redesigned both operationally and physically within 161,370 square feet of space on six different interconnected floor plates.

Another Chapter: Study Suggests Renovating, Adding to Eau Claire’s Library

A consulting firm hired to study the future of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library has recommended that the 41-year-old downtown building be renovated and possibly expanded or even replaced.

The space needs analysis by Zimmerman Architectural Studios of Milwaukee was presented to the Eau Claire City Council on Aug. 7

St. Ann Center Plans to Build Outdoor Entertainment Venue

St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care has announced plans to turn a vacant lot on Milwaukee’s north side into an outdoor community arts and entertainment venue.

The organization plans to redevelop a two-block parcel belonging to St. Ann Center’s Bucyrus Campus

Potawatomi Hotel + Casino Second Hotel Tower

Zimmerman Architectural Studios president and CEO David Stroik presented the plans by the Forest County Potawatomi County to build a new wing onto their hotel complex in the Menomonee Valley.

The tribe is planning to add a 115,000 square-foot, 19-story tower with 119 rooms, including a number of suites. When complete, it will bring the total room count at the hotel to 500.

Additions at St. Charles School in Hartland will be Ready for Students This Fall

The first phase of the expansion of St. Charles Catholic Church and School in Hartland will be complete in time for the 2017-18 school year.

The parish is inviting the community to get a look at the new additions — which include three new classrooms, a dedicated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) lab, a new concessions stand, new bathrooms and a revamped gym entrance and vestibule — on Aug. 6.

A.O. Smith to Develop New Research Center Near Milwaukee Headquarters

Global water technology company A.O. Smith Corp.will develop a new corporate research center near its headquarters on Milwaukee’s far northwest side.

The 42,700-square-foot corporate technology center will focus on research and development in the areas of water heating, water treatment and air purification.

Waupun Memorial Hospital Details Expansion

Progress is being made on Waupun Memorial Hospital’s new private patient room expansion.

The individual spaces within the 52,775 square-foot addition are quickly taking shape as drywall is being installed through the three main areas which will occupy this space: medical/surgical patient rooms, intensive care unit, and labor/delivery/recovery and postpartum rooms. Opening is planned for fall 2017.

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Completes All Private Room NICU

After nearly two years, we at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin are thrilled to announce that the renovation of our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in our Milwaukee hospital has been completed. In the weeks leading up to the grand opening, you could feel the excitement in our hallways. Staff, in our purple “We’re Moving!” t-shirts, were counting down the days till January 17, 2017, when the first patients would be transferred to their new home.

Spring Creek to Create New Children’s Building

An area church got the go-ahead for new additions at the city’s plan commission meeting Thursday, Jan. 19.

Spring Creek Church got approval from the commission for a $6 million, 30,000-square-foot project to add a new children’s building that will take care of children from birth to fifth grade.

Children’s Hospital Completes Renovation of NICU

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin has completed a multi-year renovation of its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which is the largest of its kind in the state.

The renovation project was completed in two phases. The first phase, which updated 25 private rooms, was completed in November 2014. Work on the second phase, which updated 45 rooms, began in January 2015 and opened Tuesday.

West Allis Seeks Developer to Build Offices at Former Foundry

New offices could be coming to an active stretch of National Avenue in West Allis as the city seeks a buyer to redevelop a former iron foundry property.

That project would include restoring a building at North 68th Street and West National Avenue into office space. The city also owns 7.5 acres of adjacent vacant land that will be marketed for sale for an office development.

Fox Cities Exhibition Center Design Revealed

Community leaders are confident the city’s future exhibition center will stand out from the crowd after seeing new design renderings released Tuesday during a private event.

The Fox Cities Exhibition Center in downtown Appleton will be integrated into the hillside of Jones Park, feature an outdoor plaza on Lawrence Street and have an 82-foot tall LED tower.
