Black River Falls/Lunda Community Recreation Center
Zimmerman was engaged by members of the community, along with key designates from a local financial foundation that pledged major financial support, to develop plans and designs for a vibrant multi-generational community center in Black River Falls. Major program elements identified as desirable were a health and wellness center, expansive gymnasium spaces, a child-watch center, aquatic center, a multi-generational center, technology enabled community resource center and a Boys and Girls Club Center. As part of the assignment, Zimmerman evaluated a variety of site locations before consensus began to emerge which fit the building into an existing campus of school and community owned buildings – creating a Black River Falls community campus. The project involved stakeholder participation from the City of Black River Falls, Black River Falls School District and the Chippewa Valley Boys & Girls Club.
