Fond du Lac Family YMCA Expansion/Renovation
Originally constructed in the 1960’s, the Fond du Lac Family YMCA had gone through a variety of addition and expansion projects as a means to increase program offerings to YMCA members throughout the years. Unfortunately, several of the additions were poorly planned which led to poor circulation throughout the building and staffing inefficiencies. As building upgrades were deemed necessary, Zimmerman was engaged to evaluate the Y’s space needs and utilization, and provide recommendations and planning and design solutions that would provide a more comprehensive and efficient building. A new front door to the facility will be created, providing access to a family-friendly facility that will have a much larger aquatic component and updated mechanicals. The current building was removed and the parking lot doubled in size. And, since the new facility will be facing Military Road rather than Second Street, it is anticipated that Y users will enjoy easier access to the building.
