The Kathy Hospice
As a component of a new hospital campus development, St. Joseph’s Hospital engaged Zimmerman to plan and design a new 8 bed hospice center in a rural pastoral setting. Zimmerman’s designers were able to incorporate privacy, accessibility, flexibility and patient comfort into a design that is warm, welcoming and residential in scale and appearance. Accommodations include each of the large bedrooms with bath and shower, water closet and lavatory, large windows and adjacent outdoor patio areas. Since family is such an elemental part of hospice care, each room is also furnished with a hide a bed couch, comfortable lounge chair, writing desk, and TV. Life support systems that allow the facility to achieve proper institutional code ratings are discreetly located throughout the room.
