Kettle Moraine YMCA Family Natatorium
Zimmerman was commissioned by the Kettle Moraine YMCA to provide a space needs analysis and expansion plans for its existing building in West Bend. The study concluded that an expansion of the Y was both necessary to facilitate growth in operations and to offer additional services to the community. Desired program elements were a lobby expansion to facilitate staffing efficiencies, an expanded fitness center, and expanded youth program offerings. The expansion also included a family natatorium project which provides a new thematic pool space that introduces:
- Zero depth wading pool
- Lazy river
- Plunge pool
- Tube slide from a stair tower
- Whirlpool
- Small play structure
- Children’s slide
- Tipping buckets and other children’s activities
The site was analyzed for the potential to accommodate a physical expansion for the desired spaces. Zimmerman subsequently provided design plans and construction documents for the expansion.
