Potawatomi Hotel
As a member of a national design team, Zimmerman provided construction administration services and leadership for the local zoning and code approval process for this 19-story, 381-room hotel. Our Menomonee River Valley location, just minutes away from the project site, was an ideal location from which to provide support of Potawatomi’s internationally recognized design team. Zimmerman’s also provided work-space and on-site areas where various full scale mock-ups, including guest rooms and exterior wall sections, were constructed for design and materials evaluation purposes.
The materials and color of the hotel’s base reflect the character of the industrial buildings throughout Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley, as well as the existing casino. Reflecting the modern entertainment offered within the expanded resort, the tower rises from its masonry base adorned in a combination of green-tinted transparent and opaque glass to take on the look of Lake Michigan’s shimmery waves on a sunny day. A “floating” prow-like roofline houses several suites, and a modern glass enclosed “flame” at the top of the hotel references the Forest County Potawatomi’s role as “Keepers of the Fire.”
