Shorewood Metropolitan Condos
This four-story condominium and retail development occupies a prominent corner near the northern end of Oakland Avenue in Shorewood. The building extends the lively, pedestrian-friendly urban edge along Oakland Avenue. The retail level is carefully detailed with stone and shop windows that provide a dynamic rhythm of openings compatible with the smaller adjacent buildings, while allowing flexible divisions of the retail space.
A distinct residential entrance and lobby along Kensington Avenue provides access to condominiums on the upper floors. Half of the units occupy corners with at least two orientations, and one unit per floor has three. Enclosed parking located at the basement level is accessed from the alley behind the building. Architectural details of the building are inspired by some of the better buildings in Shorewood, with particular care to provide detail and interest at the pedestrian level. High quality masonry—brick and stone—provides a substantial quality appropriate to the village.
