Waukesha County Combined Dispatch Center
In an effort to consolidate costly emergency dispatch services and provide enhanced value for taxpayers, Waukesha county engaged the Zimmerman to provide plans for a new, state-of-the-art 12,000 s.f. emergency communications / data center. Because of the critical nature of emergency services, the center is built to be operational, without interruption, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Because employees who work in the facility are not allowed to leave the building during their shift, Zimmerman worked diligently to provide a design which, despite its fortress like appearance, is extremely comfortable to work in. This was accomplished through the use of ergonomic furniture systems, desktop controllable mechanical systems and by vaulting the central portion of the building to allow for penetration of sunlight into many areas.
