WE Energies Public Service Building
Years of relative neglect and historically insensitive remodeling posed many significant challenges to restoring this landmark office building in downtown Milwaukee. Achieving this remodeling while minimizing disruption through nine phases of project staging increased the project’s complexity. The renovation goes beyond researching, uncovering and restoring the building’s significant architectural detail with a complete replacement of the building’s mechanical system was completed. The new central air handling unit in the building replaces 18 failing units and provides levels of control that could previously not be achieved. Additionally the building was technology “backboned”, providing communication and data cabling throughout the facility for the company’s computer network. The award winning final result is a state of the art 21st Century building with 1900’s charm and character.
