West Bend Community Memorial Library
The West Bend Community Library retained Zimmerman to provide comparable cost estimates for several different options for a 75,000 square foot library. A new building, expansion of the existing building, and conversion of a number of existing buildings had previously been studied by other architectural firms but the comparability of the studies was questionable. Zimmerman produced schematic designs as a basis for detailed cost estimates of an expansion and a conversion option, and estimated the cost of a new facility on a new site. Upon completion of the Zimmerman study the City Council deemed an addition the best solution and Zimmerman was engaged to develop a full set of construction documents and bid the project in the summer of 1998. The library was recognized by the Wisconsin Library Association as Library of the Year in 2001.
